Our History
Funsteps Preschool and Childcare Inc. is a state licensed, family owned and operated
center that was established in June 2000. We happily serve over 100 families in our
community, Funsteps takes pride in our stimulating and nurturing classrooms, qualified,
caring and experienced teachers, creative and enriching curriculum, and our unconditional
dedication to every child’s happiness and success.

Our Programs
From infants through school age, the programs at Funsteps are designed to nurture
and inspire all children to play, explore, create, discover and learn! We provide
daily enriching, recreational, and hands on activities and experiences in a nurturing
and supportive learning environment. The center’s curriculum and developmental and
educational goals for each age group at Funsteps Preschool and Childcare reflect
Delaware’s Department of Education Early Learning Foundations for Infants, Toddlers,
Preschool/Pre-
Our Teachers
The staff at Funsteps is committed to providing your child with quality care and education. Our teachers are experienced, qualified, professional and have an innate love for children and learning. Each teacher selected to become a part of the Funstep’s staff must go through our extensive interview and hiring process which includes background checks, physicals, maintaining certification in Infant/Child CPR and First Aid, recommendations from past employers, documentation of qualifications and certifications, as well as working directly with each age group in our center under direct supervision of our administration. Our teachers are required to attend continuing education classes and trainings throughout each year with specialized instruction in child development and early care and education. The newest theories and ideas in care and education are continuously put into practice assuring your child is receiving the quality care and education they deserve from a preschool and childcare center.
Parent Relationships
At Funsteps we encourage all parents to be actively involved in their child’s care and education, establish positive, working relationships with their child’s teachers and be familiar with the routines and expectations within their child’s classroom. The key to our success is based on our daily, open communication with every parent and their child. Each classroom has a “Parent Board” which contains a daily schedule, written lesson plans, Funstep’s monthly newsletter, behavioral expectations, nutrition guidelines for each age group and developmental milestones, criteria and guidelines for the classroom. The teaching staff keeps a portfolio of each child’s work demonstrating their progress and achievements within the different academic areas and is shared with parents throughout the year. The teachers also welcome the opportunity to talk to parents by phone throughout the day if needed and at drop off and pick up. Written communication is provided each day to children under the age of two years. Parents and teachers working together equals a happy and successful child!
Child Health
Each child at Funsteps is required to have an annual physical and up to date immunizations. The child’s most recent well check and immunization record is to be submitted to Funsteps to be kept on file. Funsteps follows the DE. Division of Public Health and State of DE. regulations and standards for child health.
Nutrition
Some of the classrooms at Funsteps are “peanut free” for the health and safety of children with known peanut allergies.
Snack: Funsteps provides 2 nutritious snacks each day at 8:45am and 2:45pm for ages
1-
Breakfast: Parents are responsible for providing breakfast and a drink each morning if their child is dropped off BEFORE 7:15am (ages 3 and up) or before 8:00am (ages 1 & 2 years). Funsteps provides milk for cereal if needed.
Lunch: Parents need to provide their child with a nutritious lunch each day. All lunches should be in a lunch box/bag labeled with their child’s name. Funsteps provides milk to drink at lunch, eating utensils and paper products.
Funsteps has a commercial size refrigerator to keep all lunches cold and a microwave in each classroom to warm any necessary items.

Hours: 6:30A.M. to 6:00P.M.
Holidays: Funsteps is closed for New Years Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and 1 Inservice Day each year
Snow Emergencies: Late openings, early dismissals and/or closings due to inclement weather will be posted on the website of WSTW and announced on 93.7FM WSTW.
Vacations: Receive 1 FREE WEEK per fiscal year to be used for vacation
Referrals
Funsteps takes pride in our relationships with all our parents, children, families and community. You will receive a free week’s tuition or a $100 gift card to Toys R Us every time you refer a family that enrolls here at Funsteps!

With Funsteps’ strive for excellence, we proudly announce our participation in The Delaware Stars Program.
