Toddlers
Overview
A toddler is naturally curious, energetic, loveable, happy and developing independence.
They thrive on adult contact and interaction, respond excitedly to familiarities,
and look for approval in new situations. At Funsteps Preschool and Childcare, we
embrace these qualities and use what comes natural to toddlers to build upon their
learning experiences and care for them each day. We provide a safe, loving, nurturing
environment for children to explore and act on their curiosities. Our teachers and
program are dedicated to enriching their lives and enhancing their language, social,
emotional, cognitive and physical development.
The Classroom & Environment
Funsteps bright and cheery home-
Our one year old playground is a clean, safe, fenced in area that provides children with swings, tunnels, ride on and push toys, balls, slides and a tree house to explore!
Teachers
The teachers in our toddler classroom are certified in Infant/Child CPR and First Aid, medication administration and have specialized training and education in infant/child development and early care and education meeting the Teacher qualifications for the State of Delaware. Our positive, nurturing, and attentive teachers support each child’s growing individuality and provide them with love and guidance as they acquire new skills, reach developmental milestones and interact with and learn from their peers, teachers and environment. Funsteps teachers encourage parental involvement and open communication about the care and growth of their toddlers. Teachers complete a daily report on each toddler to provide parents with a detailed description about their toddler’s day. Developmental checklists and portfolios are shared with parents on their child’s growth and progress in reaching their developmental milestones throughout the year.

Curriculum
The creative curriculum used for our Toddler class focuses on learning through play, exploration and direct instruction while assessing each child’s individual goals, progress and accomplishments. Supporting Delaware’s Department of Education Early Learning Foundations for Infants and Toddlers, our thematic curriculum promotes:

Necessities
Funsteps provides each toddler with their own:
*cubby to keep their personal belongings
*rest time mat
* AM and PM snack
*all needed utensils and paper products
*all the educational supplies and materials needed to implement Funsteps curriculum
Funsteps asks parents to provide:
*breakfast for their child each day if dropped off before 8:00am if necessary
*a nutritious bag/box lunch labeled with their name & condiments if needed
*2 changes of clothes to be kept in their cubby
*a fitted crib size sheet and small blanket for rest time
*weather appropriate outdoor wear
*sunscreen (seasonal)
